Being a modern maker I’m habitually looking for ways to embrace traditions with a creative twist to allow them to seamlessly flow with the current times. Here, that looks like offering the Monstera to be the new lucky Clover. Monstera plants are native to the tropical rainforests where heavy winds and rains are typical. To withstand these conditions the Monstera plant is equipped with the signature holes in their leaves allowing the wind and water to pass through. In some cultures these holes in the plants are exactly why it’s considered to be lucky. Believing that as the sunlight passes through the holes in the plant it is welcoming hope and happiness into your home. The search is always to find the rare four leaf clovers which are believed to be of extra importance and bring good fortune. This Switch Stitch three leaf Gold Clover Button represents how common or ordinary we might feel day to day. However, the gold fabric signifies that each one of us is beautiful and shining in our own unique ways. Taking a closer look you’ll notice the clover shape is made up of gold hearts conveying that we all have a heart of gold...compassion at our core. March décor (from my perspective) is typically thought of in terms of luck however I believe the word opportunity embraces a more empowering energy and is mirrored so well by the things in nature. I chose to make you a clover flower and ladybug for your SCRIPT as a visual play on the typical 'lucky' and green decor you might see. The clover Switch encourages us to focus on the opportunity of personal choice we have each day rather than leaving it to chance or luck. The clover is hardy, needing less water than most, a quick grower and beneficial at keeping weeds at bay. Reminding us of the power of maintaining a resilient attitude to create the change we want and the importance of keeping things simple in order to grow into our best selves. Just like butterflies, ladybugs undergo metamorphosis which is another way nature reminds us to be patient, embrace the change put on our path and to trust the process no matter how long it seems to be taking. The ladybug Button encourages us to look at the much bigger picture of opportunity vs momentary luck.
